Pub Quiz (evening social)

The annual Pub Quiz is our first monthly social gathering of the New Year.
This popular evening event follows the traditional pub trivia quiz format consisting of a series of themed rounds where topics could include general knowledge, film, politics, geography, pot luck etc., plus there’s the added opportunity for gaining bonus points!
The event promises to be a highly entertaining evening suitable for all ages and skill levels.
As a guide, we usually look to form teams of about six people and it would be great if numbers attending allowed us to have at least five teams as a minimum.

The event starts at 8pm and should finish no later than 10pm. Admission is free with no booking required.
Entry is open to all members of the Hants & Berks Motor Club, including their invited friends and family members. Non-members are more than welcome to attend, although we would request if you could inform the organiser beforehand please.

Natter: Mercedes-Benz Racing History Part 1 (evening social)

Februarys Club meeting welcomes member David Ross who will be entertaining us with a video presentation about the racing history of Mercedes-Benz from 1894 - 1937.
This 55-minute video was compiled by the late Bill Mason who for many years was the director of the Shell Film Unit. During the 1990s, at his own expense, Bill acquired many archive films and photographs from various countries and edited them into three one-hour videos covering Mercedes' racing history from 1894 - 1955.
David has all three videos but for his first event David will start at the beginning.
This promises to be an interesting and informative evening social event, and will be a great opportunity to learn about the pedigree of one of the longest established motor racing teams in the world.

The 61st Pairs Navigational Scatter

First run in 1954 the Hants & Berks Pairs is a road navigation event with a difference.
The basic concept of the event is to find the Final Control location in the most efficient manner possible.
By doing so two crews in two cars must work together as a single team (hence the event name), deciding which questions to answer and the most efficient, and shortest, routes to take across an Ordnance Survey map whilst avoiding penalty points.
Questions are split between morning and afternoon sessions whereby Lunch Control points need to be visited.
Not all answer locations can be visited in the time provided, thereby crews need to carefully plan their routes, which questions to answer, share out their mileage as equally as possible, and most importantly have fun!
Suitable prizes will be awarded at the end of the day.
Event Details…
Entry is open to all members of the Hants & Berks Motor Club, including their invited friends and family members. Non-members from other MSA affiliated motor clubs are also more than welcome to attend.
Entry is £10 per car (£20 per team) – so get your entry forms in early!
Please note that this is a pre-booked event and places are limited, please contact the organiser to register your interest as soon as possible to avoid disappointment
Location…
The start location is in the car park at Blackbushe Airport car park, along the A30 near Camberley, GU17 9LQ (between the A327 and auction centre roundabouts).

Normandy Trip

In June the Hants & Berks Motor Club is organising a long weekend touring the Normandy region of Bayeux, France. During which participants will have the opportunity to visit a selection of WW2 invasion sites, regional attractions and shopping.
Although the suggestion is that this would be a classic car trip, we're not going to enforce the rule.
Event Details...
For further details and a proposed itinerary, please click HERE (PDF).
Please note that this event is exclusively for members of the Hants & Berks Motor Club only, but membership is relatively cheap at £28 per year so non-members looking to come along could easily join if they wished.
Places this event are limited and we expect interest to be high, therefore we advise anybody interested to register their interest as soon as possible to avoid disappointment – a deposit of £200 will be required to secure your booking.
